CHRISTMAS PARTY! 🎄

This year we're embracing the chill vibes for our annual festive shindig!! We have a space sectioned off on the mezzanine at Mackie Mayor, where you can order food from a selection of vendors. 

Key deets to know:

• Arrival from 5pm! Join the party a little early if you can, but there's no set start time. :) 
• Come in your favourite festive get-up!!! Whether that's a Christmas knit, sequins, santa hat... 
• Buy your own food from a choice of vendors! No deposit or preorders will be required this year, and there isn't a formal sit-down meal or specific timings on food. Eat whatever/whenever you fancy through the evening! You can check out the menus in advance here
• Dirty/secret santa to commence at 7pm! 🎅If you want to play, please arrive before 7pm. If you're not familiar with how it works, you can find out more about this below. 
• Possible second location... For any knitwits keen to continue the party, we're open to finding a second late-night spot around the NQ once Mackie Mayor closes. TBC!

OK what is Dirty Santa? Known more commonly by the names 'White Elephant,' 'Nasty Christmas' or 'Yankee Swap' the best way to learn what it is is to watch this clip from the US Office (the game starts at 2mins 25 seconds).

• Everybody brings a present to the party. This is a generic gift, not bought for any particular person.
• All the gifts get put in a pile.
• The first person picks a present from the pile, unwraps it, and shows us all what they got.
• The next person can either pick a new present from the pile, or steal the present that the first person got!
• If they steal: The person who had their present stolen gets to pick a new gift.
• If they take a new gift, play moves to person #3 - who can either pick a new gift, or steal from players #1 or #2.
• Confused? Don't worry - it will make sense as soon as we start playing! And we promise it's really really fun.

How do I buy a gift for an unknown person? We suggest a spending limit of about £10. You may well get more for your ££ if you check out some charity shops, knitwits have found some gems in the past! You can get something cute, something funny, something craft-related... Something that you think many people might like. In the past, gifts that have done really well (i.e. been stolen a lot - and the stealing is where the fun is) have included... a sparkly unicorn Christmas tree decoration / a sexy fridge magnet / a pair of sloth earrings / a bum-shaped vase / a naughty colouring book... Important note: the 'dirty' party of 'dirty santa' refers to the stealing, not that the gifts are all adult-themed! (Although there is usually at least one...!!)
