THE DRUNKEN KNITIFESTO
We are the Manchester Drunken Knitwits, and we are knit-aholics. Sip by sip and stitch by stitch, we continue to pursue drunken, hand-cramping knit-thood, whereby all Knitwits have the holy grail of drunken knitting to show off to our friends: a hand-crafted item whose place, time, and method of construction cannot entirely be recalled. If you want to follow us on our path, we can show you the way...

MDK meet every Wednesday after work (from 5.30pm-ish - join whenever you can, knitwits drift in and out throughout the evening) at a different pub in central Manchester. Bring along a yarny project, order a pint, and meet some knitwits!

Where do you meet each week?
We meet at a different pub/bar in central Manchester each week, generally spanning from the Northern Quarter to Manchester Met. Sign up to see our events and find out where we are going to be.
Is there a membership fee?

We do have a small membership fee to cover our website costs so that we can communicate with you where we are each week, and so new members can find us. It's £7 per 6 months, but you only need to join once you're sure you love hanging with us; take a couple of Wednesdays to try before you buy.

Help! My account is disabled and I can't see where we're meeting this Wednesday!

Your account will be disabled automatically once your membership expires. Please purchase a subscription to continue the knitwittery!

If you need to extend your trial period, or if you've purchased membership but the site is glitching and saying that you haven't, please contact us and we'll get you sorted!

What time do you meet?
The 'official' start time is 5:30 but that's very 'ish' - join whenever you can, knitwits drift in and out throughout the evening. Stay for as long as you like - usually there will be a good-sized group until at least 8pm - although we have been known some weeks to stay until closing...
Do you get food?
We always meet somewhere that does food as many of us also get dinner each week. We do this on a casual 'order at your own pace' basis, not all sitting down to eat at the same time or anything like that.
When will you next be at [Venue X]?

We meet in a different pub every week, rotating through a fairly long list of our faves. We always try to have the next two Wednesdays listed on the website at a time, but we don't schedule the full year in advance. Therefore, unless we're going to a particular pub within the next two weeks, we don't know when the next visit would be. Sorry about that! However, all of our venues are within Manchester city centre (generally spanning from the Northern Quarter to Manchester Met) and we encourage knitwits to try places they haven't been before - it's a great way to explore the city, and your knitwit friends will be there with you!

P.S. If you have a venue you love, tell the knitty committee about it and we'll see if we can book it for a Wednesday! (It needs to be somewhere that serves food, and make sure the vibes are right for knitting - not too dark, and not too loud - as we do enjoy a good chat with our fellow knitwits!)

I'm not receiving emails!

Our emails have a habit of going to junk... So please check there and mark us as a 'safe sender' if that's where they have indeed been hiding!

Emails from us may come from the following addresses:

Do I have to drink?

No :) (And if you do drink, please drink responsibly!)

The drinking is optional, but the crafting is not. [That being said, please do purchase something from the venue as they give us their space for free!]

I don't knit, am I still welcome?
All crafty endeavours are encouraged - knitting, crochet, embroidery, macrame... if you can do it in a pub, bring it along! We do ask that members do bring some sort of craft as that's the main thing we're about, but if you forget it one week we'll forgive you - do still pop along.
What's the 'knitty committee'?

The knitty committee do all the admin so that you don't have to! We take it turns to book our weekly reservations, and meet semi-regularly to plan extra fun, like our retreats, birthdays, and Christmas celebrations.

If you have any problems, questions, or just fancy a chat, please do reach out to us! We are:

Can you teach me how to knit?
We super welcome crafty newbies, but we're not really set up to teach - so please come along with some basic knowledge and a project to work on and we'll offer endless encouragement and help where we can!
Can I bring my dog?
If the pub is dog-friendly, yes! Please check this before bringing your pooch but we'd love to meet them if the pub is happy.
I would like a tote bag!
